I really enjoyed this book. It's my first Claudy Conn novel and I was very impressed with her writing style. Chelsea is a spunky, outspoken, 18 year old, who has been left languishing at school, by her lackadaisical guardian, the young, beautiful, completely selfish Aunt Augusta. When the school's headmistress informs Chelsea that it is past time she left the school and assumed her role in society, Chelsea is determined not to go to her aunt, who she knows wants to have nothing to do with her.To that end, Chelsea sneaks away under cover of night, intent on gaining an audience with her trustee, Lord Rupert Lytton. When Chelsea arrives unannounced, coincidentally Lord Lytton is at that very moment in conference with her beloved god-mother, Daisy, discussing Chelsea's future. Lord Lytton and Daisy decide that Chelsea will reside with Daisy, who will introduce her to society.
The hero, Lord Bretton Wainwright, is Daisy's nephew. When he and Chelsea first meets, neither is too impressed with the other. Chelsea thinks Brett is handsome, but positively dislikes him, as she finds him too arrogantly cool. As for Brett, thinks Chelsea a mere schoolgirl. When Daisy enlists his services to squire Chelsea about during the season, he agrees, although he is loathed to do so.
Nonetheless, as the two are forced to endure each other's company, they each come to realize that beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye. The book is really short, only about 180 pages, so moves at a nice, quick pace. The story that unfolds is very enjoyable, with a sweet romance, and humor interlaced throughout.
Intrigue is added to the plot, by way of Chelsea's Aunt Augusta, who is determined to secure Wainwright as her own. When he appears to be pulling away from her, in favor of Chelsea, she undertakes nefarious means to secure him, with the aid of her villainous brother. There is even a sweet side romance between Daisy and Rupert.
I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it as a worthwhile read. I will definitely be reading more from the author in the future. FYI, this is not a clean romance. There is a pretty hot love scene included. Happy reading!

RUNAWAY HEART edition by Claudy Conn Karen Babcock Romance eBooks Reviews
The book is a good read but somehow lacked the class of a well written story.
Chelsea is too young to be the heroine in the story and to be paired with someone like Brett. She doesn't have the sophistication but then again that is what her character actually calls. She came straight from a dorm school where she is too old to be at. She is inexperienced as a woman but not to the point of naivety. She can carry a good conversation with anyone pretending to have the knowledge of the outside world. In the end her pure honesty was far better than the facts.
Brett however is probably a match for Chelsea for even with his age, he lacked the maturity. Intrigued by Chelsea's personality and pure honesty doesn't equate to him falling head over heels in love with her. The way the author brought out the love story doesn't hold a substantial weight to the entire story. With too much side stories, the main plot somehow gets little attention and the story ends all so suddenly.
If you want some relaxing but not necessary good read, then you may pardon some of the shortcomings of this book and go ahead and read it.
I'm not a big fan of regency romance but I have had this book for years and it was included in an anthology I received so I read it. It was a fast read but was somewhat tedious at times. Chelsea is entering the haute ton and needs a person to introduce her to society. Enter Brett Wainwright who does not care for innocent young girls but experienced older women or so he thinks. The book was good enough to finish but I won't be running out buying more regency romance anytime soon.
This is a quick read but well worth it. I could not believe how enjoyable the book was especially considering the kindle version was free. Chelsea's character was delightful in her non-pretentious way. She was refreshing and real. Her guide through the London season, Lord Wainwright, was arrogant, spoiled , and adventure loving. At first, they do not seem to be a good match but quickly you begin to see through Wainwright's façade towards the inner man, one that is worthy of Chelsea. There is also a fantastic adventure that the two must endure to win their happy ever after. Great story and I would recommend it to others that enjoy a regent romance.
Summary
Spirited Chelsea decided she'd sooner run away to London than return to her vain and selfish guardian, Aunt Augusta. But in her wildest dreams, she never imagined her dear godmother would arrange a Season--or convince the ton's most eligible bachelor to take her under his wing.
Lord Wainwright was a handsome rogue who was not interested in coy games and missish airs. He expected a country mouse with no polish, but instead he found a thoroughly engaging minx, and was oddly irritated by all the male attention she received.
Chelsea with her unspoiled eye saw beyond Wainwright's pursuit of hedonism to the intriguing man underneath. But to her shock, it appeared his heart belonged to her horrid Aunt Augusta,
